Jim and Alyssa first met as freshmen at River Valley High School during the 2011–2012 school year, never realizing at the time that they would find their way back to each other. They continued to have classes together throughout high school, but life took them in different directions after graduating; Alyssa went to Yuba College and then on to Fresno Pacific University, while Jim moved to Fullerton to attend Santa Ana College and then the Los Angeles Recording School. But fate, and their hometown of Yuba City, had other plans.

They kept in touch after their high school graduation in 2015 and officially started dating in June 2019. Jim and Alyssa quickly bonded over a shared love of plants, baseball, and talk radio. It didn’t take long to realize they were a perfect match, especially after Alyssa casually said, “I love you, dude,” during a trip to La Porte, a moment that managed to be both romantic and very on brand.

In July 2024, they moved in together and built a home filled with love, laughter, and cats. Jim came with Finn, and in November 2024 they rescued a parking lot kitty, O’Malley, who quickly became part of the pack.

Over the last six years, Jim and Alyssa have taken countless trips to La Porte to spend time at Alyssa’s family cabin enjoying fishing, kayaking, and hiking along the way. In August of 2025, Jim planned a surprise proposal in one of the most meaningful places to them both: La Porte. Alyssa had no idea a custom emerald ring was waiting for her, or that Jim had strategically and casually encouraged emerald colored nails to match it.

Through everything, they have been each other’s biggest supporters and best teammates. They can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter of life surrounded by the people they love most.
